Come and see a stripped down version of the band!! An intimate lunchtime show at this top festival!!
Everything has changed for everybody!! We are no exception... Les has had to step down from front line duties due to serious health issues
He is recovering well, and is still an integral part of the band!
John Hall, a close friend of Les, is now spanking the plank with us
We have used the lockdown to write new songs, and to remotely record tracks for a new album.... teasers of which will appear on this site
over the coming weeks.
We also got together with videographer, Brian Anderson for a weekend of fun and frolics... the 'Perfect Blues', a song originally written for and with Brazilian guitar maestro, Nuno Mindelis, is featured at the top of this page. Other videos can be seen on our new Facebook page.
Playing live to an audience again is what we crave....to feel and share the energy and the love!! Here's hoping!!
“Kicking off the afternoon were the blues-based band Mike Bowden & A917. Singer, songwriter and storyteller Mike a Salford lad, but now living in Scotland, fronts the Scottish band on vocals and acoustic guitar. He is ably supported by Les Cowley on electric slide guitar, Martin Rhydderch on keys, Sean Walker on bass and Big Vern Seymour on percussion. They received a well deserved standing ovation at the end of their set after a stunning performance of ‘off the wall’ blues, mostly self-penned by Mike. A band with true ‘entertainment’ as their middle name.” - Rosy Greer
— Carlisle Blues Festival
“I particularly loved Mike Bowden & The A917 Band, just quality throughout the band and Mike’s powerful voice along with Pete MacLeod’s driving bass had me bopping in my chair, I’d recommend them to any blues club or festival as they really deliver the goods. ”
